“Unforgettable”, Katherine Heigl and Rosario Dawson will face off in Unforgettable, a thriller that will keep you alert and with your heart in your hands. Directed by Denise Di Novi, who debuts behind the scenes with this Warner Bros. movie, production will hit theaters next April 21.
In Unforgettable, Heigl gives life to Tessa Connover, a woman who has to face her ex-husband David (Geoff Sults) to commit to another woman called Julia Banks (Dawson) and start a life together in the house that they used to share with His daughter Lilly (Isabella Rice).
Trying to face her new role as a woman and stepmother, Julia believes that she has found the man of her dreams and also the person who can help her overcome her troubled past.
But Tessa's jealousy will turn her new life into a nightmare. The film also features Simon Kassianides and Whitney Cummings, among others. Katherine Heigl stars as Tessa Connover, who is barely coping with the end of her marriage when her ex-husband, David (Geoff Stults), becomes happily engaged to Julia Banks (Rosario Dawson)—not only bringing Julia into the home they once shared but also into the life of their daughter, Lilly (Isabella Rice). Trying to settle into her new role as a wife and a stepmother, Julia believes she has finally met the man of her dreams, the man who can help her put her own troubled past behind her. But Tessa’s jealousy soon takes a pathological turn until she will stop at nothing to turn Julia’s dream into her ultimate nightmare.
The Unforgettable movie marks a reunion for Heigl and Di Novi, who previously collaborated on Life as We Know It. The main cast also includes Simon Kassianides (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Whitney Cummings (The Wedding Ringer), Robert Wisdom (Chicago PD) and film and television star Cheryl Ladd.
#3 A great release date: June 2, 2017
The film is being produced by Di Novi, Alison Greenspan (If I Stay) and Ravi D. Mehta (Grudge Match), from a screenplay by Christina Hodson. The behind-the-scenes creative team is led by multiple Oscar-nominated director of photography Caleb Deschanel (The Right Stuff, The Natural), production designer Nelson Coates (Flight), editor Frédéric Thoraval (Taken), and costume designer Marian Toy (Ballers). Denise Di Novi produced Crazy Stupid Love back in 2011, but that title could also work for her upcoming directorial debut, a psychological thriller called Unforgettable. Former rom-com queen Katherine Heigl plays a deranged woman who’s jealous of her ex-husband’s new fiancee Rosario Dawson, and she sets out to psychologically abuse his new lady in the hopes of getting her man back. Crazy? Check. Stupid? Check. Love? Misguided, but check. Watch the newest Unforgettable trailer below. Here’s the trailer.
This is much shorter than the first movie, and I feel like it’s a little less coherent as a result. But it doesn’t take long to realize the game Heigl’s playing here, and this movie knows exactly what it’s trying to emulate. It shares DNA with thrillers like Fatal Attraction, Basic Instinct, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, and Obsession; films about a lover who takes things too far, with one party clearly more interested in keeping the flame alive than the other. Whether this one will be able to live up to those standards remains to be seen.
Unforgettable I do find it interesting that Heigl is taking on a role like this. She’s largely fallen off the Hollywood map after being anointed the heir apparent to Julia Roberts and starring in a string of successful romantic comedies between 2007 and 2011. She earned a reputation for being “difficult” to work with (it’s unclear whether that was warranted or not), but by taking a part like this, it appears as if she’s leaning into the critical perception of her. (Not unlike January Jones playing an ice queen in X-Men: First Class.) I’ve admittedly never been a huge fan of hers, but it takes some guts to make a move like that, and now I’m actually rooting for her to get back in the game. The only thing Hollywood loves more than building up and breaking down actors is a classic underdog story, so we’ll see if Heigl can pull it off.
If there's one takeaway after watching this latest Unforgettable trailer, it's that you don't cross Katherine Heigl on any family-related matters. Surely I'm not the only one who thinks this movie looks like it would be a good fit for the Lifetime network. Despite all the time Rosario Dawson has been spending in the Netflix side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Claire Temple's experiences won't have rubbed off on her Unforgettable character, and while the clash between and Heigl will originally start out as one-sided mind games, the very end of this preview shows that eventually it will escalate into a full-on brawl. At least Dawson seems to have the upper hand in that final shot, but I sincerely doubt Unforgettable will end without blood spilling and maybe even a body dropping.
Unforgettable stars Katherine Heigl as Tessa Connover, who is still getting over the end of her marriage with Geoff Stults' David. When David gets engaged to Rosario Dawson's Julia Banks, something in Tessa clearly snaps. While Julia is doing her best to live a happy life with David and be a good stepmother to his and Tessa's daughter Lily (played by Isabella Rice), Tessa's jealously won't let Julia live a comfortable life. The psychological warfare starts with Tessa making David think that Julia is having an affair, and it only gets worse from there. Even Lilly isn't safe from Tessa's fury, s the latter is determined that her daughter not forget who her "real" mother is. The movie's cast also includes Cheryl Ladd, Whitney Cummings, Simon Kassianides and Robert Wisdom. This will be Heigl's first movie since the 2015 indie Jenny's Wedding, while in addition to her Marvel Netflix work, Dawson can currently be heard as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl.
